Sarah Kopper

Associate Director of Research, J-PAL Global

Sarah Kopper is the Interim Director of Research at J-PAL Africa and Associate Director of Research at J-PAL Global at MIT. She works to improve research operations at J-PAL, with a focus on research resources and knowledge sharing across offices and projects. She leads J-PAL's research transparency work and oversees processes related to J-PAL's affiliates. Past research focuses on the relationship between agricultural input markets, input use, and production in Eastern and Southern Africa. Her field experience includes agro-ecological research in Malawi and qualitative work on a palm oil plantation in Cameroon.

She holds a PhD in agricultural economics from Michigan State University and a BA in economics from Cornell University. Prior to graduate school, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Senegal for two years.
